What we've been up to

We have been busy! I don't know if I can even think back to all of the events since the last post! One event in May has been....the start of soccer! I don't have many pictures yet. The weather hasn't been the greatest this season...so next week I plan on getting some video and pictures too. Samantha did score her first goal of the season last week though! We have a fun team again this year. Can't she stay 6 forever? (not really, but why does it have to go by so fast?) Brighton is still our soccer helper. He isn't as interested in the playground during every game, and actually likes to kick the ball with me on the sideline.

Also this month was my dad's 10 year anniversary of his heart transplant, so we planned a surprise party. He was surprised! We just had a little BBQ and cake, balloons, and homemade gifts. It was a nice day! Mallory (my sister) and her husband James brought up this game that is apparently quite popular further east. It is called "Cornhole" and is SO fun! So Jerod will be making our own cornhole boards and Mallory is going to make our bean bags. You play it with teams of 2 and at quite a distance try to toss the bean bags onto the board--where there is a small hole. If your bean bag stays on the board your team gets one point, and if it goes in the hole you get three points...the first team to 31 wins! The other team can also try to knock your bean bag off the boards. We had so much fun playing this game and my goal is to have our own set of boards with a University of Wyoming "theme" (buckin' horse decals and brown and gold boards & bags) by the time the weather is consistently nice! (I think I still have some time!)

That same Saturday Samantha had her ballet dance recital. The theme of the recital was princess type songs...her's was a song from Tinkerbell. The whole recital was excellent, but I was especially impressed with the growth that Samantha has made in Mrs. Tricia's dance class this year. During her dance she remembered most of the moves, smiled, waved, and did a great job! We have collectively decided that she is going to stick with dance for awhile! The recital really convinced her. She had a great time. We were lucky to find such a wonderful dance studio (Positively Ballet!). She has one more small recital for a senior care center in town and then we'll have a break until a summer workshop in August that she will be taking. Yeah for ballet!

Brighton is still my little pal and helps me with many things each day...like watering my plants with his squirt gun! We've been setting time aside each day to practice his letters, and he can write his name now! I just have to help him spell it...it is a tough first word to learn to spell. But we're progressing. He has also been taking swimming lessons 2 mornings a week. We have 2 days left of those. He has really learned at lot and is not afraid to jump all the way in the deep pool anymore! He is also growing so fast.

These kids keep me hoppin'! And we love it! It will be really nice when school is out and we can spend some time doing fun projects and outside activities.

So many people have that cornhole game out here. Like you said, it must be an east thing. Looks like you guys are having lots of fun and doing great.

Looks like girls will be in dance together this summer! I have never heard of that game before. Should we make a BYU-themed one and we can set them up next to each other? :)

We love "Cornhole"...it is our favorite neighborhood game. We played it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It is way fun!! We can't wait for school to be out to spend some time together too!! Going up Pine Creek this weekend! Our kids don't get out until June 4th. So much different than good ol' WY and getting out before Memorial Day!!
